3 Tools to Help Unplug and Reconnect
3 mindfulness tools I use today that can help you unplug when you need to reconnect with your center of being.
Hi, y’all,
Being a nun taught me to discover the mindfulness tools that are already within me. Mindfulness tools you can leverage with your mind and body to help you be fully present without judgment.
Today, I want to share three mindfulness tools that I use every day and how they can help you unplug and reconnect with the center of your being. The digital world we live in is only speeding faster. Mindfulness can help you take the steering wheel of your life and slow down to the pace that resonates with your presence.
Let’s dive in.
First, some easy micro-mindfulness tips – actions you can do in less than 3-7 minutes at a time.
Micro-Mindfulness Tips
Ponder this Quote
Human spirit is the ability to face the uncertainty of the future with curiosity and optimism. It is the belief that problems can be solved, differences resolved. It is a type of confidence, and it is fragile. ~ Bernard Beckett
A prompt for reflection and journaling:
Reflect on what fuels your inner spirit to face the unknown with curiosity and confidence.
Mindful Action
Here’s one actionable tip for practicing micro-mindfulness this week – a brief activity you can do in 3-7 minutes.
Reflect on the journey of a piece of food from farm to table, appreciating the work involved.
Journal Prompt
Take a moment to reflect on your day before journaling. Be mindful of what grabs your attention when you pay attention.
Journal Prompt: Reflect on the power of acceptance in healing and moving forward.
One Mindful Thing
Here are a few suggestions for micro-mindfulness reflection and action. Choose one mindful thing or another practice to try this week.
Start your morning by '“listening to your frog” - identify the most challenging task of the day and prepare mentally to tackle it first.
Keep a “not-to-do” list. It's as important as your to-do list. Knowing what to avoid keeps you focused on the essentials.
Hold space for others to discuss their goals and visions. Sharing can clarify your own path to your true north.
Look up from your desk and remind yourself of the big picture. What are you working towards? Keep your vision clear and your tasks aligned.
Stargazing tonight? Contemplate your place in the universe and how your true north contributes to the bigger picture.

3 Tools I Use Daily That Can Help You Unplug When You Need to Reconnect with Your Center
Being a nun taught me the value of cultivating an inner life of intention.
As a nun, I utilized several mindfulness tools to live an intentional life every day. I use these mindfulness tools today to help me be grounded in soulful meaning within the core of my being.
Here are three mindfulness tools that can help you unplug when you need to reconnect with your center of being.
#1. Create a Routine of Mindful Silence and Intentional Disconnection
I practice mindful stillness every morning to set my intention for the day.
I sit in a rocking chair facing the window overlooking Puget Sound and reflect on my intention for the day while sipping a cup of hot tea, English Breakfast with a shot of steamed, frothed milk. My phone is nowhere in sight.
Taking a deliberate break each morning to set your intention and attaching it to a daily ritual, such as sitting with your morning brew, helps you make clear choices that align with your core values. Ten minutes or less with this morning ritual is enough to make an impact.
#2. Find Peace in the Silence
Throughout the day, I take one to three-minute mindful silence breaks.
I sit quietly in a chair away from my desk or step outside to breathe in the fresh air. This intentional silence allows for profound thought and emotional processing.
Making time for quiet moments in your day, whether through meditation, nature walks, or simply sitting in a calm space focusing on your breath, helps you practice being fully present.
#3. Practice Reflective Journaling at the End of the Day
I use a 12-month Moleskine Pocket Classic Daily Journal to reflect and write down the highlights and gratitude of my day.
The documented thoughts are mostly bullet points or simple phrases that take less than five to seven minutes. This deliberate journaling at night helps me declutter my mind and bring forward insights.
Keeping a journal focusing on reflection and not perfection allows for the meaning in your life to surface in the present moment. This silent, reflective journaling can provide a lingering residue of peace.
